Thunderstorms topple trees, knock power out to thousands in NH
Thunderstorms hit quickly in parts of central and southern New Hampshire Thursday afternoon. The storms produced wind gusts powerful enough to knock down trees and power lines.
Reports include trees and wires down near Routes 9 and 125 in Barrington.
The storm brought strong winds, heavy rain and hail to the area.
The city of Dover said the following roads have been closed because of the storm:
- French Cross Road at Tolend Road;
- Glen Hill Road at Toend Road;
- Tolend Road at the Barrington town line;
- and portion of Dean Drive
The traffic lights at Oak Street and Portland Avenue and the ones at Whittier Street in Dover also are not working.
Eversource reports 3,979 customers without power as of 5 p.m. Thursday, mostly in Barrington and Dover.
