Young NH firefighter, 18, dies over the weekend, friends and family post tribute

FRANCESTOWN - A young firefighter lost his life over the weekend.

After the unexpected death of Cole Wohle, 18, who was a fireman for Francestown Fire and Rescue, the department shared this message on its Facebook page.

Wohle was not on duty.

"It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that Francestown Fire and Rescue announces the passing of FF Cole Wohle. Cole was also president of Francestown Explorer Post 0037. He graduated from Conval High School in June 2016. He had his FF1 certification and was working towards his EMT certification. His goal was to become a career firefighter.

But in addition to the titles and certifications we gather during our time in the service, there is another title Cole had .. that of a truely wonderful human being and fine young man. It will be difficult for members of the department to communicate to others the respect and admiration we had for Cole. He cared for the department, his explorer post and the fine traditions of the service. It is not often that someone touches so many people, so deeply in such a short time. Cole's family is also dedicated to the department. His father, Rob, is an active firefighter with the department and his younger brother, Jarrett, has joined as an explorer. The thoughts and prayers of the Francestown Fire and Rescue family are with the Wohle family tonight."

The department and Cole's family are asking anyone with a story they'd like to share to post them to Facebook.

Friends and family posted a video tribute to Wohl here:
