Young boy drowns in Pequawet Pond in Conway


CONWAY - A 6-year-old who who wandered away from a home in Conway was found drowned in a pond on Wednesday.

Authorities with the N.H. Fish and Game Department say the child was visiting the residence at the time he went missing.

Conway police, the Carroll County Sheriff's office, Ossipee police and Conway Fire and Rescue all aided in the search.

The boy was found in Pequawket Pond, and rescuers immediately began CPR and rushed him to Memorial Hospital in North Conway. Emergency room personnel continued to try to revive the child but were unsuccessful.

Officials say no further information is available at this time.
