You raise $2.8 million
By one calculation, this is roughly what Abraham Lincoln raised for his successful run for the presidency if you look at it in today's dollars.
But it falls far short of what's needed to run today.
In 2000, George W. Bush raised $185 million and his opponent Al Gore raised $120 million.
In 2004, George W. Bush raised $367 million and his opponent John Kerry raised $328 million.
In 2008, Barack Obama raised $745 million and his opponent, John McCain raised $368 million.
In 2012, Barack Obama raised $715 million and his opponent Mitt Romney raised $446 million.
