Yemen announce lineup of its new Cabinet
The Associated Press
ADEN, Yemen (AP) Yemen's state-run TV has announced the lineup of the country's new Cabinet following a U.N.-brokered deal with Shiite rebels who two months ago overran the capital, Sanaa.
Friday's announcement comes after all Yemeni parties and political groups agreed last week to form an apolitical technocrat Cabinet, ending a deadlock of over two weeks.
The TV says the new Cabinet has 37 members, including the prime minister. Thirty are newcomers while seven ministers are left over from the previous government.
Among the new faces is Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Subaihi, a top army commander in southern Yemen, as well as Foreign Minister Abdullah al-Saaidi and Information Minister Nadia al-Saqqaf the country's first female information minister.
