WTSN to carry Red Sox radio broadcasts on the Seacoast

DOVER - Newstalk 98.1 WTSN announced Thursday that it is the official Seacoast affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, and will carry play-by-play of their games on the radio for the upcoming 2017 season.

Red Sox play-by-play announcer Tim Neverett joined Morning Information Center host Mike Pomp on his program Thursday morning to make the announcement.

The announcement marks a return to Seacoast radio for the team, whose games were not broadcast in the region last year. It also marks a return to WTSN after a 2-decade absence. The station had been a longtime affiliate until the 1990s, when it began broadcasting play-by-play of the New York Yankees. The new affiliation means WTSN will not be carrying the Yankees broadcasts this season.

WTSN is also the Seacoast affiliate for the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics.

WTSN is owned by Binnie Media, sister company to NH1 News and WBIN-TV.
