SEABROOK - A woman was arrested in Seabrook after, police said, she was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The Seabrook Police Department received a report from Massachusetts State Police of a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lane of I-95. Officers from the Seabrook Police Department responded to I-95 to stop the vehicle in question.

A police officer who was traveling south on Interstate 95 observed a lone vehicle traveling north in the southbound lane forcing southbound traffic off the road. The officer attempted to slow and stop the vehicle in question. This vehicle at no point slowed or stopped for the officer, but forced the officer to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The officer was able to turn around behind the vehicle with another officer also in pursuit. Stop sticks were deployed which the suspect vehicle ran over. The vehicle continued for another mile before coming to stop. The operator was identified as Alexandra Coates, 23, of Billerica, Mass.

Coates was charged with driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled drug, reckless conduct, disobeying an officer and reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Bail was set at $2,500 cash only, and was expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
