Worcester Shakespeare Company to perform Coriolanus

The Associated Press

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Drama fans and others who want to take a break from the news can head to the Worcester Common Oval for a free production of Shakespeare's Coriolanus.

The themes of the play may sound familiar. The political drama deals with the hostility that can fester when a society finds itself grappling with a growing divide between the wealthy and the poor.

In this case, the tragedy is set in ancient Rome and the unrest is sparked when grain is withheld from the populace.

The play is being presented by the Worcester Shakespeare Company starting at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Those attending the performance are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Food vendors like Teddy's Lunch Box and Minuteman Kettlecorn will also be on hand.
