Woman slams into barrier after shifting to drive while getting jump-start in Manchester

MANCHESTER — A woman slammed into a barrier after accidentally shifting into drive while getting her car jump-started, causing an accident.

The operator, Comfort Opgah, 57, was in the Rite-Aid parking lot at 122 McGregor St. A Good Samaritan stopped to help her with her dead battery.

While jump-starting the car, Opgah was pressing on the gas pedal to rev the engine when she accidentally shifted into drive. Her 1999 Dodge Durango took off at a high rate of speed and hopped the median.

Opgah collided with a iron and granite fence in the parking lot of The Loft.

Opgah was transported to Catholic Medical Center for a fractured right leg and shoulder.
