Woman pulled from icy Merrimack River in Manchester

MANCHESTER - First responders pulled a 23-year-old woman from the Merrimack River on Friday night.

The woman was clinging to a rock at the base of a sheer wall and had to be rescued by boat.

The woman, who is still unidentified, was transported to Catholic Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia.

District Fire Chief Richard McGahey said there is no information on how the woman got into the river. He said the woman was only in the river for a few minutes before first responders arrived on the scene, and someone who was with the woman called for help.
