Woman convicted in fatal NH boat crash faces new speeding and distracted driving charges
The Associated Press
CONCORD - A N.H. woman convicted of negligent homicide after a high-speed boat crash that killed her best friend in 2008 is back in court - this time charged with texting while driving.
Judicial officials confirm that 42-year-old Erica Blizzard of Laconia is scheduled for trial Jan. 25.
She was ticketed for distracted driving on Sept. 16 and pleaded not guilty.
The day after a jury convicted her in the boat crash case, Blizzard was charged with driving 84 mph and almost running down a trooper when she was fumbling with her cell phone.
Blizzard was sentenced to six months on the negligent homicide conviction.
There's no defense lawyer listed in her latest court file.
A phone listed in Blizzard's name isn't in service. Messages were left for her at work Monday.
