Woman awarded $145,000 in Weare PD wrongful termination lawsuit

WEARE — A former administrative assistant at the Weare Police Department won a lawsuit after filing for wrongful termination.

Dawn Wheeler was awarded $145,000 in damages, the Concord Monitor reported. Wheeler, who suffered a heart attack in 2005, said her termination violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and a state law on discrimination.

This settlement was a part of several other lawsuits in the town that has cost them major dollars in legal payouts, according to the Monitor.
