Woman allegedly flees after fender bender, fights with officers
MANCHESTER - A woman involved in a fender bender at Granite Street and South Main allegedly left the scene of the accident and was later arrested for drunken driving.
Police say Maria Feliz, 40, of Methuen, Mass. has been charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and conduct after an accident.
The collision happened around 6 p.m. with the victim reporting he was stopped in traffic on Granite Street when a black Volkswagen with a Massachusetts license rolled back into his vehicle. The driver and the woman exited their cars to view the damage but the suspect allegedly refused to cooperate and drove away in the direction of Bedford, police said.
Bedford police were notified and located the car about to exit the Bedford Hannaford. Bedford police followed and stopped the Volkswagen in Manchester.
Police say Feliz displayed signs of being under the influence. She refused to exit her vehicle and locked the door.
When an officer reached in to unlock her door, Feliz struck the officer’s hand repeatedly. While being physically removed from the vehicle, she also hit and scratched the officers, police said.
She was taken to the Valley Street jail and was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on Wednesday.
