Woman, 79, arrested for DWI in Rochester after knocking down utility pole, closing road
ROCHESTER - A 79-year-old Florida woman was arrested Monday afternoon for DWI after causing a single-car crash, knocking down a utility pole and closing a road.
Police responded to reports of a car driving on two flat tires, then hit a utility pole on Little Falls Bridge Road. Police said Doris Hersey left the paved portion of the road and struck a utility pole. The car sustained heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene.
The road remained closed for several hours.
Hersey was transported to Frisbie Hospital by Frisbie EMS for apparent non-life threatening injuries.
She was charged with DWI, a class B misdemeanor.
She was released on $2,500 bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Sept. 14.
