A hiker was having a medical emergency on Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail off Mt. Washington at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Officials said a group of 5 hiked to Lake in the Clouds and were descending when Monoswita Saha, 28, of Trumbull, Connecticut lost consciousness.

The group called 911 and shortly after Saha was back conscious but not alert.

NH Fish and Game Conservation Officers, Pemi Valley Search and Rescue Teams, Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Teams and Appalachian Mountain Club teams were contacted to respond to the trailhead to assist in the rescue.

Meanwhile the group took it upon themselves to package Saha up in a sleeping bag, tied ropes to it and drag her down the trail for a quick evacuation, they were met by Twin Mountain Rescue and Fire officials who assisted in carrying out the remainder of the trail.

Saha was transported by Twin Mountain Ambulance to Littleton Hospital for medical treatment.

Lt. Wayne Saunders of Fish and Game stated that they did the right thing, a self-rescue is sometimes the best.

They needed to stay moving to stay warm and they needed to get her to help as soon as possible.
