Winnisquam schools placed on 'soft lockdown' after threat found on social media app

TILTON - Winnisquam Regional High School as well as the middle school went into 'soft lockdown' Monday morning after a 'vague threat' was made over social media.

UPDATE: Police say 'vague' social media threat that locked down Winnisquam schools not credible

At about 8:15 this morning, a message was found anonymously posted to a social media app.

A student told NH1 News that the app is called After School.

The threat was made against the high school, but since the middle school shares a campus it was place on lockdown too.

School officials said students are being kept within classrooms and classes are being conducted.

They said they were hoping the students would be able to go to lunch.

Police would not comment.

We'll update this story as more details are released.
