Wind advisory in effect for portions of NH
Strong winds out there tonight folks. A Wind Advisory is in effect from the National Weather Service for Carroll, Belknap, Strafford, Merrimack, Hillsborough, Rockingham, Cheshire, and Sullivan Counties until 5pm Wednesday. We could see gusts as high as 50mph through that time frame.
Sustained winds will be out of the northwest on the order of 15-30mph. These winds will subside a little tonight, then pick back up again after sunrise Wednesday going through Wednesday Afternoon. They will lighten up again Wednesday Night and that trend will slowly continue into Thursday.
Power outages are certainly possible due to trees or limbs/branches coming down on power lines. Also, be careful when driving. Have both hands on the steering wheel and be extra cautious if driving a high profile vehicle.
Wind gusts will also pick up salt and sand from treated roads and parking lots suspending these particles in the air. This will make facing into the wind especially difficult.
