Which state has the lowest life expectancy in the US?

24/7 Wall St has revamped its calculations on life expectancy in the United States. With obesity and poverty ever growing in the nation, 24/7 Wall St added these key factors to its research on life expectancy. So, which state has the lowest life expectancy rate in the country? And why?

Mississippi. Home of Elvis Presley, bottled Coca- Cola and fried everything.

The metro area of Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula in Mississippi is expected to have the shortest lifespan of 75.3 years.

And like most cities with low life expectancy, this metro area is known for its high obesity rate.

-32.5% of all adults are obese compared to the nation obesity rate of 27 percent.

-The smoking rate is 26.1% as compared to the national average of 20 percent

-The poverty rate is 16.7 percent

So how does New Hampshire's only "metro area" of Nashua-Manchester compare under these same standards?

-Live expectancy is 80.2 years

-Obesity rate is 27.2 percent

-The poverty rate is 8.7 percent.
