What's happening in New Hampshire on April 20, 2017


Here are some important events happening around the Granite State and in the U.S. on Thursday, April 20th, 2017.

1. Governor Chris Sununu will present his report, 100 Businesses in 100 Days, in the Executive Council Chambers at 9:30 a.m. and discuss his commitment to grow New Hampshire’s economy and workforce.

2. The Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to hold a press conference at 10 a.m. in the Bank of New Hampshire parking lot at 62 Pleasant Street in Laconia. The conference will be an interactive event with 140+ school children planting the first pumpkin seeds.

3. U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen will visit the University of New Hampshire to speak with students and faculty about the Trump administration’s budget proposal impact on research funding at UNH, at 11:30 a.m. UNH received approximately $80 million in federal funding last year for research which helps support local breakthroughs across a wide range of industries and boosts the regional economy.

4. Shaheen will also host a Town Hall Meeting at Nashua Community College’s Auditorium at 6 p.m. to discuss her work in the Senate and the concerns of area residents. Shaheen will take questions from the audience and the event is open to the public.

5. Senator Maggie Hassan will visit General Electric Aviation at 2:30 p.m. in Hooksett, where she will tour the facility, meet with GE employees and suppliers, and highlight the importance of supporting innovative companies like GE and promoting economic development across New Hampshire.

6. President Donald J. Trump and Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni will hold a joint press conference at the White House at 3:45 p.m.
