Week 7: Why is Beaver Meadow's principal still on paid administrative leave?

NH1 News

CONCORD - Nearly seven weeks later, and there's still no word on the fate of a suspended Concord elementary school principal.

While the district remains silent, John Forrest is still receiving his six-figure salary.

What’s going on?

On April 16, Forrest was mysteriously put on paid administrative leave following an undisclosed incident at the elementary school.

That incident prompted a police investigation and an internal review.

While Lt. Timothy O’Malley, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division of the Concord Police Department, won’t share many details, he told NH1 News that charges will not be filed against the principal.

However, Concord School District Superintendent Christine Rath said she’s still reviewing the case, at the cost of Forrest’s $104,225 a year salary and the $300 a week salary increase given to his replacement Melissa Scott.

Rath has yet to say what’s taking her so long to resolve this issue and either reinstate or terminate Forrest.

However, Rath is quickly running out of time to make this decision.

She’s retiring at the end of the school year.

We sent her an email asking her if she would have a decision before her last day.

She did not respond.
