Webb 'seriously looking' at 2016 campaign

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb says he is "seriously looking" at a Democratic presidential campaign in 2016, a move that could create a challenge to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton if she seeks the White House again.

Webb says at a speech Tuesday to the National Press Club that he has talked to advisers about a presidential bid and will continue to have those discussions during the next four or five months. He says he wants to see how much support he might have.

Webb is a veteran of the Vietnam War who served as Navy secretary and in the Defense Department. He defeated Republican Sen. George Allen in 2006 and served one term in the Senate.
