MANCHESTER - A water main break has closed several roads near the airport Wednesday morning.
Police say traffic is being diverted from Calef Road near Brown Avenue and South Beech Street starting around 9:30 a.m.
The piping broke on Brown Avenue near the 293 Overpass extending to the South Beech Street intersection.
Drivers traveling east and west on Route 293 will still be able to use Exit 2 (Brown Avenue) to get to the Manchester Boston Regional Airport or Litchfield.
Traffic will not be allowed to travel on Brown Avenue north from the 293 overpass.
Traffic traveling south on South Beech Street also will not have access to Brown Avenue. Traffic is being detoured from South Beech Street to Presidential Road.
Police are advising anyone traveling to the airport to plan ahead and prepare for traffic congestion.
The city's Highway Department will be setting up traffic barricades and detour signs. Manchester Water Works estimates traffic detours and time of repair to be a minimum of 24 hours.
Any questions should be directed to Manchester Water Works at 624-6494
