WATCH: NH State Trooper almost hit by coach bus on highway
GRANTHAM - A traffic stop almost turned ugly for a N.H. State Trooper last week.
Trooper Michael Catalfamo was returning to his cruiser after a traffic stop on April 21 when a bus came within inches of hitting him.
Just take a look at the video above.
The coach bus - operated by Autobus LA Quebecoise - didn't move over or slow down as Catalfamo was beside his vehicle.
The operator of the bus was issued a citation for motorist duties when approaching highway emergencies - also known as the Move Over law.
The law says that vehicles need to make these adjustments for emergency personnel:
- Maintain a reduced speed.
- Obey the directions of any authorized person directing traffic and of all applicable emergency signals and traffic control devices.
- Vacate as soon as possible any lane wholly or partially blocked.
- Give a wide berth, without endangering oncoming traffic, to public safety personnel, any persons in the roadway, and stationary vehicles displaying blue, red, or amber emergency or warning lights.
