PELHAM — A family was displaced from their home after a car crashed into it during Thursday's nor'easter.

Pelham Police and Fire responded to 205 Mammoth Road for a car that crashed into a house at about 12:41 p.m.

The driver, Matthew DeCarteret, 41 of Tyngsborough, Mass., was traveling northbound on Mammoth Road when his vehicle crossed over the southbound lane of travel and struck the lower level of the house, police said.

DeCarteret suffered minor injuries and was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital.

The Pelham Building Inspector, Roland Soucy, looked over the damage done to the house and found that the impact of the crash forced the foundation of the home to move. The house was deemed unihabitable.

Liberty Utilities was called to the home and shut the power off.

Five people resided in the home, three of which were there at the time of the crash. No one in the house was injured.

They were able to get some belongings and were forced to relocated. The American Red Cross is providing lodging for the family.

The crash remains under investigation, but a preliminary investigation shows both speed and the road conditions as the contributing factors, police said.
