HAMPTON - On a day that most called the "non-official" first day of summer, thousands of beach goers headed for New Hampshire's most popular summer spot: Hampton Beach.
While most shops and restaurants aren't yet open, most parking spaces were taken on a day that hit temperatures in the 80s.
“I’m out here doing some homework – so it’s nice to just be able to come out and enjoy the warm weather and the beach,
said Ashlyn Correia. "Even though I’m not really focusing on homework, it’s just really nice out and it’s a great start to summer.”
Few braved the still ice cold ocean, but a couple of brave souls grabbed their bathing suits and enjoyed a quick dip.
“Beautiful, suns out. Ya know? Some clouds now, there weren’t clouds earlier. But I’m loving it, it’s awesome," said Branden Newman, who said he would not be dipping in to the water. "I don’t think I’m going to do it. It’s a little cold for the water. I’m just here for the sun. And just the scenery, I miss it after this winter.”
A couple of beach goers said they even took off work to enjoy the perfect day.
