Walmart opens in Manchester, new traffic patterns now in effect

MANCHESTER — With the grand opening of the new Walmart Supercenter in Manchester on Wednesday, residents are getting use to some new traffic patterns.

Walmart located at 725 Gold St. which is scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. to midnight - seven days a week, has caused some new traffic changes to be in effect.

According to the Union Leader, the gate that separates the residential and commercial portions of Gold Street was back in operation as of Tuesday. The gate was initially installed to prevent use of the Gold Street shortcut to the new Walmart, and went down at about 2:45 p.m. The gate redirects traffic no longer allowing Gold Street to be a thruway in accessing Walmart.

The new facility will be home to about 300 new employees, and includes a full pharmacy and a free store pickup service. It will also be the only store in New Hampshire to have Walmart’s MoneyCenter services.
