Volunteers help search for missing NH horses in Pawtuckaway State Park

DEERFIELD - Dozens of volunteers showed up throughout the day Monday to help search the trails and woods of Pawtuckaway State Park for two horses that went missing Sunday.

Austin Jones and his girlfriend Shaune Horan were riding the horses Sunday when a couple of bicyclists came flying down a hill. Jones say they tried to get off in time to move the horses off the trail.

"As we were getting off they bolted because they got spooked by these bikes that were going probably like 30 to 40 miles per hour down the mountain, I think they were racing," Jones said.

Many of the volunteers don't even know the couple, but say they know they would do the same for them.

“Just because that's what horse people, do this is a horse community. Everyone sees it on Facebook. Like I said, if you have horses you'd want as many people out looking for your horse too,” said volunteer Nicole Jarry.

If anyone sees the horses, they're asked to contact Deerfield Police.
