At least six people were killed and one critically injured over Veterans day weekend in Maine.

The victims were not wearing seat belts in two of the crashes, police said. A crash Sunday night in Hampden killed an elderly woman and left four people, two children and two adults, injured, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Maine State Police also said one man was killed and another critically injured when the driver of a car the victims were in fell asleep and crashed the vehicle on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning.

A family from Massachusetts was heading south when their car driven by Sonja Ebron, 64, of Milton, Mass., left her lane of the highway and rolled over multiple times before the car stopped in the median strip.

Ebron and a passenger, Peta Thompson, 19, suffered minor injuries.

Giovonni Mykell Ebron-Burgess, 23, of Dorchester, Mass., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger, Keon R. Ebron, 27, of Mattapan, Mass., suffered serious injuries and was transported via helicopter to a medical center in Bangor. He was listed in critical condition there Sunday night.

A man was killed Saturday night in a single-car crash in Alfred. 31-year-old Joseph Barbarino was driving when his car hit a ditch and turned several times before hitting a tree.

Police said Barbarino was thrown from his car, and that he was not wearing a seat belt.

Kevin Baker, 44, and Julie Columbo, 50, both of Millinocket, were killed when their pickup truck went off the Golden Road and down a steep hill, state police said.

Police said speed and alcohol were factors in this crash, which occurred at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. They were also not wearing seat belts.

Late Friday night in Perham, Kyle Goding, 29, of Perham was killed when his minivan overturned several times off Route 228. Speed and alcohol were factors in that crash, state police said.
