Vermont man returns safely after getting lost in NH woods overnight

The Associated Press

COLUMBIA - N.H. Fish and Game officials say a hunter from VT spent a cold night in the woods after being unable to make his way back to his hunting camp in Columbia, N.H.

Wardens say that the father of 29-year-old Kyle Frizzell of Lemington, Vermont, called at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to say his son had not returned after deer hunting on Pleasant Mountain in Columbia, New Hampshire.

A search Tuesday night proved unsuccessful, and a wide-scale search was underway Wednesday when Frizzell returned to the camp just after noon on Wednesday. He was cold but uninjured.

He said he wound up roughly four miles away from Pleasant Mountain when darkness fell, and decided to set up a makeshift shelter and keep a campfire burning throughout the night.
