Verizon customers in U.S. can call France to check on friends, family for free this weekend


Verizon is offering free calls through the end of Sunday for U.S. customers trying to reach family and friends in France after the terror attacks in Paris on Friday.

According to a statement from Verizon, wireless customers will incur no charges for texts or international long distance calls originating from the U.S. to France during Nov.13-15, though applicable taxes and surcharges will apply.

Home telephone customers also can make free calls to France from their U.S. landlines during Nov. 13-15 with applicable taxes and surcharges still applying.
