Vandals tag street signs, mailboxes in Bedford

BEDFORD - Vandals went on a tagging spree Saturday night, destroying mailboxes, granite posts, and multiple street and real estate signs.

Police said the damage was first reported on Perry Road where a large real estate sign was painted blue. The officer also noticed a nearby mailbox was covered in spray paint. Further investigation found multiple stop signs in the area of Oriole Drive were also vandalized.

"The vandalism of street signs and other property is a quality of life issue that costs taxpayer money to repair," said police Chief John Bryfonski. "Above that, defacing or damaging a stop sign creates a potentially dangerous situation for motorists. We will aggressively pursue those responsible."

Police believe all vandalism occurred sometime after 9 p.m. Saturday night. Anyone with any information about the vandalism is urged to contact the Bedford Police Department at (603) 472-5113.
