Vaginal Seeding becoming new trend in C-section childbirth

nh1.com

CHANGING FAMILIES - There's a new trend in child birthing for cesarean births, known as "vaginal seeding." It involves swabbing the mother's birth canal and wiping that onto their baby being delivered by C-section.

The hope is to give the baby the bacteria it would have been exposed to during a vaginal delivery and help kick-start a healthy gut in the newborn.

Although few doctors in the United States seem to be offering this, a growing number of women are inquiring about it.

It's more popular across the pond, according to pediatricians in London.
