USS Constitution in Boston vandalized, police looking for suspect caught on video

BOSTON — The USS Constitution, one of Boston's most beloved landmarks, was damaged over the weekend after an intruder managed to sneak on board.

The suspect allegedly got on board after hours and caused some damage to the state room spindle on the below deck, raising security concerns within the crew, Boston 25 reports.

Sometime Sunday into Monday, when the ship was closed in public, The Constitution's crew discovered an intruder below deck, Boston 25 wrote.

The man was escorted off the ship but ran away before he could be identified.

The man was caught on surveillance video and police asked all branches to be on the lookout for the man.

The damage has mostly been repaired as of Wednesday morning, the commander of the ship told Boston 25.

The Constitution is set to be refloated in July.
