UPDATE: Woman in custody after Candia SWAT stand-off; 2 shots fired, no injuries
CANDIA — Police say they have a woman in custody in regards to the shooter situation in Candia Tuesday morning.
State police received a call at about 8:44 a.m. from Rockingham dispatch requesting assistance to a report of a distraught female in a residence on North Road in Candia. Deborah Deslongchamps, 45, of Candia has been identified as the woman and is now in custody, state police said. A SWAT team was depolyed.
The first officer on the scene found the husband on the front lawn and confirmed that the 12-year-old daughter of the couple was in the home. The daughter was able to run out of the home and was assisted by crews on scene to safety.
There was a single shot heard in the home and a second shot heard shortly after, while the child was still in the home. The weapon was a handgun, according to police.
Police urge that the situation is contained and that the public was never in any danger. The public is still urged to stay away from the area; North Road has also been closed at this time.
Police say that Deslongchamps was "distraught and in a tough emotional state" at the time of the incident.
An investigation is being led by the Candia Police Department.
