UPDATE: Victims speak out about tire slashing spree in Laconia
LACONIA - Residents of downtown Laconia shared their concerns and anger after more than ten vehicles in the area had their tires slashed.
Around 11:30 Saturday night Laconia resident Patricia Whaley was woken up by a friend, letting her know both of their cars had been vandalized.
"She had two flat tires. And she turned and looked at my car which was parked next to hers and noticed I had four flat tires," Whaley said.
Laconia police were called to Louge Court, Baldwin Street, and Cottage Street where they found numerous vehicles with at least one slashed tire.
"At this point it's probably close to a dozen," Lt. Rich Simmons told NH1 News. "We'll be going around the general area checking for videos and just keep talking to people and see if we can come up with a possible suspect."
One couple who live on Baldwin street woke up this morning to three of their vehicles hit, with a total of five slashed tires.
"It's anger and frustration and they're striking out and I don't believe there was any one particular target at all," Whaley said.
With the amount of damage recorded by Laconia police as of Sunday afternoon, those responsible will face a felony charge.
"The amount of crime up here especially with warm weather coming is only expected to increase," Whaley said. "We have got to corral and handle what is happening. It's a beautiful area here I love this neighborhood. I'm not leaving."
