UPDATE: Vermont police concerned missing teen could be with sex offender in NH

ALBURGH, Vt. — Vermont State Police believe a missing teenager could be with a registered sex offender.

Police said 16-year-old Mickayla Lozell was last seen in Alburgh late Sunday evening. After an investigation, police said she may be with William Smith, 47, a registered sex offender in Vermont who is out of compliance with the registry.

On Tuesday, Mickayla reportedly contacted an acquaintance by phone and indicated she was OK and in New Hampshire.

Police said she could be in the Concord or Hampton Beach areas.

At this time, there is no indication to suspect foul play or that Lozell is being held against her will, police said.

Lozell may be wearing a black tank top, black leggings and black and white sneakers.

Smith is believed to be operating a gold colored Dodge Intrepid with Vermont license plate GST 814.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police, St. Albans Barracks at (802)524-5993.
