UPDATE: UNH students react to table that cost almost as much as year of in-state tuition
"It might be a little expensive, but I mean it looks pretty cool," said Claudia Willis, a sophomore.
I don't think that that would be what comes from 18 thousand dollars, I guess you could say," said senior Farrah Ekbacani.
The school said the table did not come from tuition money, but the hospitality budget .
A statement from Erika Mantz, the director of UNH media relations read:
"The university takes great pride in its long track record of fiscal responsibility and efforts to soundly steward both student tuition and taxpayer dollars. Having a chef’s table was a good idea in that it allows the dining staff to interact with students, demonstrate healthy cooking techniques and share nutrition education, but much less money should and could have been spent to achieve the same outcome."
