MANCHESTER - More than 60 Manchester firefighters and police officers responded to the 3-alarm fire on Second Street that broke out Sunday afternoon.
After successfully removing everyone in the three multi-family complexes that were affected, two firefighters were taken to the hospital - one firefighter for heat exhaustion and another complaining of heat exhaustion and chest pains.
Manchester officials believe the fire started on the back porch at 178 Second Street and spread to a second complex next door. The siding of an adjacent complex melted due to the extreme heat of the blaze.
As of 4 p.m. Sunday, Second Street remains closed.
Firefighters will be on scene for hours. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
