UPDATE: Tilton man accused of throwing Molotov cocktail to torch his ex-girlfriend's car

BELMONT - A Tilton man is in custody after police say he made a Molotov cocktail and used it to try to torch his ex-girlfriend's car.

Police arrested Shawn R, McKenney, 26, of West Main Street, and charged him with arson and use of a Molotov cocktail in connection with a fire outside 38 Concord St. on Monday morning.

Police identified McKenney as a suspect and say he has admitted that he had made the Molotov cocktail, lit it, then tossed it at his ex girlfiends vehicle when it was parked in Belmont.

McKenney was arraigned Tuesday in the Laconia Circuit court.

Concord Street is less than a mile from the fire station, and the car was saved from destruction thanks to a quick response by fire fighters.
