UPDATE: Teenage girl found dead in Rochester motel was a Spaulding High student

ROCHESTER – Police say the 17-year-old girl found in a Gonic Road motel room early Saturday morning was a student at Spaulding High School.

Police say emergency officials were called to the Riviera Motel for the report of an unresponsive female just before 5 a.m.

The girl was in a room with her mother and an adult male friend of the mother. The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The death remains under investigation and an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Sgt. Jeremy Aucoin said an autopsy was conducted Saturday afternoon but the results were not immediately available.

The identity of the juvenile was being withheld to provide time for all family to be notified, but Aucoin said the high school was notified and counseling will be made available to students on Monday.
