BARNSTEAD — Police arrested a fugitive on the run for two days with the help of SWAT teams and a helicopter on Thursday.
Officials say Paul Tasker Jr., 39, of Barnstead, was taken into custody without incident after police entered his home on Province Road.
The warrant stemmed from an incident that allegedly took place on Tuesday, July 5. Tasker was charged with felony-level criminal threatening, felon in possession of a firearm and others that were called “lesser-included criminal offenses."
Police had been looking for a fugitive that they described as "armed and dangerous." The search started around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
There was a major police presence in the Barnstead and Pittsfield area and residents were being told to stay in their homes on Province Road, witnesses said. Police used a helicopter to help with the search.
Tasker is currently being held at the Belknap County Jail and will be arraigned Friday afternoon.
