UPDATE: Suspects and victim identified in Manchester stabbing

MANCHESTER — An officer was flagged down by a man that had just been robbed by two men at knife point on Saturday morning at about 12:40 a.m.

Mark Hathaway, 44, was lured into a the Victory Park Garage at 25 Vine Street by two men, now identified as James Dickson, 36, and Jonathan Vertigans, 32.

Hathaway told police that Dickson and Vertigans fought him for his money, and pulled a knife on him.

Hathaway was able to disarm the men, and stabbed both of the assailants.

Despite his efforts, the assailants knocked him out and ran off with the knife and his wallet.

Vertigans suffered serious injuries, which resulted in a trial of blood extending over a a block from the garage to the nearby park, where officers found him.

Vertigans was brought to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Hathaway was brought to the hospital for his wounds as well but was shortly released into police custody.

Bail has not yet been set.
