UPDATE: Search expected to continue for father, son missing in Merrimack River
BOSCAWEN - Rescue crews are expected to continue a search for a father and son in the Merrimack River on Thursday.
The Division of State Police-Marine Patrol got a call at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday that a 10-year-old swimmer went missing in the current of the Merrimack River.
The young boy’s parents were on shore.
The father went into the water to try and rescue the boy and also began to struggle.
After watching both father and son disappear in the water, the mother called 911. In addition to Marine Patrol and the NH Fish & Game Dept., emergency responders from Boscawen, Penacook, and Concord (Police and Fire) searched until 8:30 p.m. when efforts were suspended for the evening.
The State Police-Marine Patrol and Fish & Game will be resuming recovery efforts in the morning. Officials will be searching the river just south of the Hannah Dustin Park and Ride below the US RT 3-4 Bridge.
