UPDATE: Portsmouth worker in fair condition after being pinned behind garbage truck


PORTSMOUTH - A man who was seriously injured after getting pinned between a garbage truck and a car has been upgraded to fair condition at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Department of Public Works employee James Murray, 45, of Rye, was collecting trash and loading it into the compactor at the back when a car driven by Michael Toner, 24, of Rye, slid into the truck in the snow Friday afternoon.

According to seacoastonline.com, Murray remained in critical condition Saturday but hospital officials say he was upgraded to fair on Sunday.

Members of the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit are investigating the incident with assistance from the Portsmouth Police Department.
