LACONIA - A heavy police presence remains on the scene at Jewett Street following a report of a dangerous situation that closed three area roads around 2 p.m.
Police said they've controlled the scene.
Witnesses say Laconia Police and the SWAT team are trying to get to a man who is still inside a private residence on Jewett Street, even throwing tear gas into the home.
NH1 News is on the scene and reported hearing two loud bangs around 4 p.m.
Nearby schools were on lockdown until about 3 p.m., but walkers and those who lived in the area were kept at the school.
The Laconia Police Department has strongly advised everyone to avoid the area, but roads have been opened.
