UPDATE: Police say juvenile responsible for Nashua shooting of 2 people
NASHUA — Police said a juvenile was responsible for the shooting of two people who were left with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police received a report of shots fired in the area of Ash Street and Lake Street Wednesday at about 6:54 a.m. While responding to the area, police received a call from a local hospital reporting that two individuals were being treated for gunshot wounds.
"We heard a gunshot about 7ish... We came back inside because we have two, three kids. Then my fiance went outside to smoke a cigarette and he saw cops running down Ash street," said Korie Gaganon who lives nearby.
An officer encountered a male juvenile tampering with evidence in the area, police said.
He was placed under arrest with out incident and charged with falsifying physical evidence, a class B felony and was identified as the person responsible for the shooting.
The area of the shooting was secured as a crime scene for several hours while the investigation progressed.
The two victims, an adult male and adult female, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released from the hospital.
Detectives from the Special Investigation Division are furthering the investigation with assistance from the Criminal Investigation Division, the Crime Scene Unit, the Patrol Division, the K-9 Unit and the Problem Oriented Policing Unit.
The juvenile was ordered detained and will be arraigned Thursday.
