UPDATE: Police say 16-year-old pointed airsoft gun out of car, caused lockdown

MANCHESTER — A 16-year-old student allegedly pointed an air soft gun out of a moving vehicle window on Thursday causing Memorial High School to go into lockdown, police said.

It also caused a secure campus for Manchester School of Technology, Jewett Street School and Southside Elementary School.

A teacher alerted a school resources officer about the student with the gun. The teacher said that a male student was seated in the back of a car while driving on Western Road that morning.

The student was not armed with the air soft gun inside the school, but the air soft gun was located in the trunk of the car that belonged to another student.

The student was taken into custody and the charges against him are pending.
