UPDATE: Police charge man with 2nd-degree murder following Wentworth homicide

Rebecca Reese

PLYMOUTH— A man arrested in connection to the murder of a Wentworth man back in November, appeared in Plymouth District Court on Monday.

Thomas E. Corliss, 30, of Penacook was answering to a single charge of second degree murder of Todd Downing. The incident occurred on Nov 23. Corliss and Downing were acquaintances.

Corliss was not accompanied by a lawyer and is filing a financial affidavit in order for one to be appointed to him. Until then Corliss is being held without bail and a probable cause hearing has been set for December 28- where he will technically be arraigned.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Jeffery A. Strezlin revealed that the murder of Downing was by physical assault and no weapons were used. Strezlin said “indirect family” were present in the courtroom today, but as far as any other details, they are still investigating.

“These cases are constantly ongoing,” Strezlin said. “The New Hampshire State Police Crime Unit has been working on this case since the moment it happened and they will continue to work on it up to the time of trial.”
