PLYMOUTH - Authorities have identified the body found Tuesday of Jake Nawn, the Plymouth State student who has been missing since Thursday.
According to police, members of the Plymouth State outdoors group found Nawn's body in the Pemigewasset River.
Students at Plymouth State University will be holding a candlelight vigil Tuesday at 6 p.m. Nawn's step father is expected to speak at the event.
The President of the university sent this message on Tuesday:
"Dear members of the Plymouth State University community,
I am deeply saddened to inform you of the tragic loss of Jake Taylor Nawn, a member of our Plymouth State family. We offer our deepest condolences to Jake’s family, friends, and loved ones. We will host a candlelight informal service tonight at 6 p.m. in the HUB Fireplace Lounge. All campus members are welcome to attend.
During this time of great loss, we are reminded of the importance of community. Losing a fellow student and member of our University is very difficult. I encourage those who feel they or a peer may need additional support to contact PSU’s Counseling and Human Relations Center. Hours are Monday and Tuesday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Wednesday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. When the center is closed, Genesis Behavioral Health in Plymouth is available to respond to those in crisis or urgent need to speak with someone. Their phone number is (603) 536-1118. The University’s CARE program is also a tool that can assist community members in need."
An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
