A high school student was waiting for the bus in her driveway in the area of Crescent Street when a car passed her, turned around and asked her where Pittsfield Middle High School was, Police said. When the girl described it, the man said it would be easier if she showed him by getting in the car with him.

When she declined, he took off.

The man was driving a dark green four-door car - possibly a Chevrolet. He was described as a man in his 40s or 50s and tall with long hair a scruffy facial hair.

He did not take physical action with the girl, and police said there is no proof of criminal intent but because the activity was unusual they are looking to put minds at ease.

The school sent an automated message to parents to inform them of the incident and to be alert.

If anyone has seen the vehicle in the area, officials asked that they contact the Pittsfield Police Department at 603-435-7535.
